I feel like one of the weird divisions in trans lesbian community is between those who strongly identify and probably overidentify with aspects of cis lesbian culture (to cope), and those who strongly disavow and distance from cis lesbian culture (to cope). I’m around! Reading, though, not writing. I miss we’ve lost soo many good blogs in the passed like four years 😔 & too, come back to us please I tried to stay.ĭespite my username, I have to admit with great sadness that I must agree, and have done so for some years. TI-RF was what I wanted but I think radical feminism is dead and gone. I stopped dead in the biscuit isle at ALDI and it washed over me that women don’t count the dead as a liberation movement now because there is so little solidarity - idk where I’m going with this. Like Brianna and other murdered trans women had stolen something. Today I saw a blog post from Karen Ingala-Smith where she misgenders Brianna Ghey while saying ‘we must pick our battles’ - and I have a friend who volunteers on the counting dead women project, and I was hit by this sudden sadness that what TE-RF has done to a movement I loved where KIS thinks a dead child was given anger that other women deserve. I tried my best for so long (afaik I coined TI-RF on twitter) after being influenced by and other radical-transfeminist women intellectuals. Thats why radical feminism needs the clarifier “trans exclusive.” Radical feminism can (and should) be trans inclusive. They’re used interchangeably here but that is far from the truth. Becoming a feminist on tumblr I had always conflated radical feminism with transphobia.
